Overview:
The team is passionate and experienced in all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks and copyrights including servicing and managing the intellectual property needs and assets of clients. The team understands how intellectual property (“IP”) assets can best be created; value thereto determined and rights therein protected; and used/ acquired/supplemented to produce a competitive advantage. The team provides advice and assistance to its clients with respect to due diligence (routinely uncovering issues in chain of title, encumbrances/obligations, or enforcement/ prosecution/ deficiencies often left undetected) acquisition of IP and related agreements and partnerships/joint ventures with an aim to transfer/ share/ development of IP.

The team advises and assists clients on the following key issues:

• Protection and prosecution of IP rights (including patents, trademarks, design rights, copyrights, geographical indications, domain names, proprietary knowhow and business processes);
• IP prosecution;
• Opposition of trademarks, settlement of trademark infringement disputes;
• Advice on protection, licensing and transfer of trademarks including convention applications;
• IP due-diligence, audits and valuation;
• IP acquisition, transfer and related agreements;
• Drafting and negotiating various IP agreements including license agreements, assignment deeds, IP development agreements, work for hire agreements etc.
• Representing before various authorities, courts and forums on issues relating to the registration and protection of IP rights;
• Domain name registrations and maintenance.
